Philadelphia 야구팀 드디어 World Series 우승!!!!

어제는 할로윈 날이라서

잔뜩 사들고 온 캔디를 일일히 백에 담으면서

올해 미국의 World Series 에 우승한

필라델피아 야구단이

필라델피아 시내를 꽉 매운 시민들의

열광적인 환호속에서 퍼레이드를 하는 모습을

티비로 보는 내내 마치 내일인양 즐거워했다.

 

사실 나는 평소에 야구를 즐겨 보지 않는데

야구의 결승전인 World Series에 필라델피아 Phillies팀이 올라온 걸

안 다음부터 가슴 졸이면서 결승전 경기마다 챙겨서 보게 되었다.

다행히 비교적 짧게 시리즈 성적 4-1로 압도적으로 Tmapa Bary팀을 누르고

28년만에 당당히 우승을 거머쥐었다.

 

유난히 어려서부터 이사를 많이 한 덕에

여러나라에 있는 여러 도시에서 살아서인지

고향이라고 여기는 곳이 몇군데 있는데

그중 필라델피아는 복덩이 아들이 태어난 곳이고

뉴욕과 필라델피아를 오가며 두집 살림을 7년 이상을 해서

마치 제2의 고향같은 곳이다.

 

필라델피아는 한때 미국의 첫 수도이기도 한

역사가 깊은 도시이고 음악, 미술의 도시이고

1시간 거리에는 바다가 있고, (도박의 도시 Atlantic City)

2시간 거리에 유명한 Poconos Mountains 도 있고

1시간 거리안에 Amish village가 예전대로 살고 있기도 하고

값이 싸면서 맛있는 유명한 식당들이 많기로도 유명하다.

 

티비를 보면서 눈에 익은 거리와 빌딩이 나오면

왜 그렇게 반가운지 우승한 기쁨과 어우려져서

눈물까지 글썽거려진다.

오래전이라 한동안 잊고 살았던 20대 후반에서 30대 초반의

일과 육아로 힘들고 지친 내 모습이 문득 겹쳐 보여서인가..

뉴욕에서 출장이 잦은 일을 하면서

여러가지 장애를 가진 두아이들을 힘들게 키웠던 그 시절이

이제는 희미하게 바래져서 눈물없이 담담히 되새겨 볼 수 있으니

많은 세월이 흐르긴 흘렀나 보다.

 

실로 오랜만에 월드컵 우승을 해서인지

수많은 시민들이 몰려 나와서

축제다운 축제 퍼레이드를 하고 있는 모습을 담은

밑에 사진들은 Philadelphia Inquirer 신문에서

모셔왔습니다.
