밴쿠버 올림픽 이야기 1 (성화 릴레이)

드디어 몇시간 있으면 2010년 동계 올림픽 경기가 캐나다의 아름다운 도시 밴쿠버에서

개막이 됩니다.  일찌감치 할 일을 마치고 먹을 간식과, 음료수도 장만 해 두고

느긋하게 TV 앞에 앉아서 105일간 캐나다 전국을 순회하다가 이제는 마지막 남은

주자들이  길가에 많이 기다리면서 환호하는 밴쿠버 시민들 사이로 현재 밴쿠버 시내(Robson Street)를

돌고 있는 모습을 지켜 보고 있습니다.

 

이 올림픽 성화는 그리이스에서 출발해서 작년 10월 30일에 밴쿠버에 도착해서

캐나다의 북부 지방을 거쳐서 동쪽으로 이동해서 캐나다의 동쪽 끝에 위치한 뉴펀드랜드 주까지 갔다가

다시 방향을 돌려서 밴쿠버를 향해서 서부로 이동해 오다가 지금 현재 밴쿠버 시내 한 복판을 지나고 있다.

 

이 성화는 106일동안 12,000 명의 릴레이 주자들의 손에 의해서 광활하기 그지없는 커다란 캐나다의10개의 주와

3개의 테리토리(Territories)를 거치면서 거치면서 자그만치 45,000 km 거리를 달려 왔다.

 

 

 

106일간의 긴 여정 중에서 몇 장면만 함께 ....

밴쿠버 항구에  "Vectorial Elevation" 이라는 제목으로 설치 된 서치라이트가 항구를 아름답게 비추고 있다.

 

 

 

지금 밴쿠버 현지 시간이 오후 2시 10분을 가르칩니다. 

티비에서 10분 전에 올림픽 경기장의 문이 드디어 열려서 사람들이 입장하기 시작했다고 알려 준다.

오늘 저녁은 설이라고 미리 만든 부추 만두로 간단히 해결하고 멋진 개막식을 느긋하게 구경을 할 참이다.
