베토벤 탄생 250주년 기념 합창공연/ Beethoven's 250th birthday

 

  

오스트리아의 수도 비엔나에 소재한 오스트리아 국립 도서관에 소장된

9번 교향곡을 비롯해서 베토벤이 작곡한 작품 악보 다수를

그의 250주년 탄생을 맞이해서 베토벤 특별전시회가 열리고 있다.

클래식 음악의 거장 베토벤은 독일 본에서 1770년 12월 16일에 태어나서,

올해 250살을 맞이한다.

이 특별한 날을 기념하기 위해서 세계 전역에서

다양한 마라톤 기념공연과 특별 전시회, 그리고 기념 음반 발매등

다양한 기념 행사가 2020년 내내 열릴 예정이다.

내가 몸담고 있는 RES 합창단도 이 특별한 해를 맞이해서

베토벤이 작곡한 합창 걸작 레파토리를 

오늘, 4월 16일 저녁에 

재능있는 솔로 가수들과 에드먼튼 심포니 오케스트라 함께

베토벤 탄생 250주년 기념 연주회를 가질 예정이었다.

하지만, 코로나 바이러스 팬데믹 사태때문에

모든 공연이 무기한 취소가 되는 바람에 이 베토벤 공연과 

6월 초에 35년만에 처음으로 계획된 라흐마니노프의 Verspers/저녁기도 공연이

열심히 연습했는데도 불구하고, 안타깝게 특별한 두 공연이 취소가 되었다.

그래서 정식 공연 무대에 서지는 못했지만,

유튜브 영상에 맞추어서 전 미사곡을 실제 공연처럼 열심히 불렀다.

이 공연 무대 1부에 공연될 예정이었던 다장조 미사

Mass in C major, Op. 86/다장조의 미사곡

이 미사곡은 니콜라스 에스터하지 2세의 의뢰를 받고

베토벤이 1807년에 작곡한 작품으로

4명의 솔로이스트, 합창단, 그리고 오케스트라를 위해서 쓰여졌다.

이 작품의 초연은 같은 해 9월 13일에 에스터하지 왕이 참석한 가운데

비엔나 근교에 있는 에스터하지의 왕조의 중심지인 아이젠슈타트 무대에서 열렸다.

이듬해 1808년 12월에 열린 공연에서는 베토벤이 막 완성한

유명한 교향곡 5번(운명)과 6번(전원)

합창 판타지/Choral Fantasy, 피아노 협주곡 4번을 포함해서

베토벤의 지휘로 이 미사곡이 무대에 올려졌다.

200여년이 지난 오늘날에도 클래식의 최고봉이라는 걸작품 5곡을

처음 감상해 본 청중들에게 얼마나 역사적인 공연무대였을까?

베토벤과 태어난 해는 달라도 같은 날에 태어난 인연도 있어서

그의 250살을 축하하기 위해서

격리생활 중에 그의 피아노 소나타 Op. 109, E 장조를 연습하기 시작해서

그의 생일이자, 내 생일인 12월 16일에 연주할 계획을 세우고 있다.
