Hi from Orford Music Camp

Hi Mom,

How are you doing?  I'm doing pretty well.  This weekend has been pretty fun. My friends and I took a long walk up Mont Orford, but not all the way up since it took a while to get to Mount Orford, let alone all the way up.  Three of the friends who were in the group are siblings, and we made a short movie with them. It's very short and improvised.  I guess it was funny - it's all in French, so I didn't understand all of it.  Still it was a fun thing to do.

The concert yesterday night was fantastic and wonderful.  Brian did the Arpeggione sonata, Britten's third suite for cello; while the pianist did Chopin Fantasie in F major (I think...), and a Liszt piece.  I don't have the program with me now, so I'll let you know the titles later.  In any case, both were really really marvelous.

Earlier today after practicing in the morning, I went with three friends into the town of Magog.  We went to a few quirky stores there (like a fantasy shop with swords), some ice cream, a grocery store, and a nearby beach where we sat and watched the waves.

I hope you're doing well and talk to you soon.

Love, Jeanie

Hi Mom,

Another library CD to return thanks.  Things are pretty great here..  I played the 1st movement of Saint Saens concerto yesterday and it went pretty well.  I'm going to go on a walk with some friends this afternoon up Mount Orford and see Brian in concert tonight.  He;s playing the Arpeggione sonata, Britten suite no.3, and the pianist he's playing with (Andre Laplante) is playing some Liszt and Chopin pieces.  I hope you're doing well and talk soon

Love, Jeanie

HI Mom,

How are you?  I'm doing pretty well.  Not much going on, apart from practicing, master classes, and hanging out with friends.  The quality of playing is very very good, so I'm learning a lot.  I'm sending you some pictures.  Some of them are insie the practice room building where we can practice and where masterclasses are.  The other is my half of the room (it' has room for 2, but I have it to myself this week). The other is some friends and Brian playing foosball before class.  I'll send some more soon.  Talk to you soon.

Love, Jeanie

PS Brian said my cello sounds fine.  I don't think we need to take it to the repair shop right away.

Hi Mom,

Thanks for your note.  I'm doing pretty well and practicing a lot lately.  It's going pretty well.  I did okay in the first masterclass.  I played the prelude and allemane from suite no.2.  I was really nevous, but I know what to work on.  I play Friday next.  Today, there was the first and last movements of the Franck sonata, prelude/alemane/courante from suite no.5, and first movement of the Chopin sonata.  Tomorrow and Friday there are going to be five people in masterclasss.

I'm waiting for a room at the practice room building now.  This the only place that has wireless here and it's open 8AM-11PM. Maybe we could Google talk in the morning since I'm usually in masterclass from 1-4 or 5PM and dinner at 6PM.  I have taken some pictures, but still have to upload them on the my computer, so I'll e-mail them to you later this week.

I think I'm going to play the first movement of the Saint Saens concerto.  We'll see.  Hope you're doing well.

Love, Jeanie
